Blix hid smoking gun

During his oral briefing to the UN Security Council on Friday, Hans Blix failed to disclose a huge undeclared Iraqi unmanned aircraft (UAV), likely designed to deliver chemical or biological weapons.

According to The Times (London), which broke the story, the U.S. and Britain will push the chief weapons inspector to admit that the UAV is a smoking gun”; a move that could convince swing voters on the Security Council to endorse the March 17 ultimatum.

The discovery was only disclosed in a 173-page document circulated by the inspectors after Fridays Security Council meeting. Hans Blixs fear of providing evidence that could trigger war has now caused him to hide the very evidence he is uncovering. This only provides further proof that inspections were the wrong way to disarm Iraq.

A senior diplomat from one of the six swing votes on the Council has already hinted at the importance of this find arguing that this report is going to have a clearly defined impact on the people who are wavering. Its a biggie. The U.S. and its allies should use this proof of Iraqi deception to solidify support now for tough action against Saddams regime.
