Bush Justice Department asks: Was Iraq involved in the Oklahoma City bombing?
With intelligence analysts searching of late through years-old discarded evidence to tie Iraq to terrorism against the United States, an Oklahoma City journalist has a seven-year lead in investigating circumstantial but compelling clues that Iraqi operatives helped to plot, prepare and execute the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in that city. The attack killed 168 people, including children.
An article in London’s Evening Standard newspaper draws on investigative reporting and forensic analysis into the Oklahoma City bombing performed since the attack by former television journalist Jayna Davis.
The evidence connects confessed bomber Timothy McVeigh with Palestinian and Iraqi operatives – not news in itself but for the fact that the Bush Justice Department, according to the report, finally has begun to take a serious interest in Davis’ information and her thesis.
