Bush to troops: Our enemies ‘will be stopped by the might and will of the United States’
In a speech yesterday to Naval Station Mayport, President Bush, while honoring the assembled Sailors, described the gravest danger to the United States in the war on terror as outlaw regimes that seek and possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
Putting the spotlight on the regime of Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, Bush recounted the litany of Iraqi violations of UN resolutions, its proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and its connections to international terrorism. According to the President, The Iraqi regime is engaged in a massive campaign to conceal its weapons of mass destruction, and its ties to terrorists.
Bush vowed to act decisively if force becomes necessary and, answering those who criticize U.S. action as imperialistic, argued that Americas military fights not to conquer, but to liberate.
This morning, the head of the UN inspectors in Iraq, Hans Blix, told the UN Security Council, in regard to Iraqs weapons of mass destruction, many proscribed weapons and items are not accounted for.
