China-linked hackers spying on commercial shippers to interrupt military transport system: Newsham
A hacking group linked to China is attempting to spy on commercial shipping companies, according to ESET, a cybersecurity firm based in Slovakia. The group is known as Mustang Panda and is employing malware to gain access to computer systems. The shippers are based in the Netherlands, Norway, and Greece.
Retired Colonel Grant Newsham, a senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy and the author of “When China Attacks,” told NTD that the attack is done to interrupt military transport shipping while collecting information for targeting with an offensive aspect.
