Donald Trump’s unequal treatment under law

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We once were told that Merrick Garland was a great Supreme Court nominee as he had “unwavering fidelity to the rule of law.”

Indeed, when now-Attorney General Garland announced yesterday that he had personally authorized the FBI raid on former President Trump’s home, he declared, “Faithful adherence to the rule of law is the bedrock principle of the Justice Department and of our democracy….All Americans are entitled to the evenhanded application of the law, to due process of the law, and to the presumption of innocence.”

As we await the pretext given a federal magistrate to approve that raid, one thing is already clear: Donald Trump has not gotten equal treatment under law as that given prominent Democrats like Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder or Sandy Berger. For such weaponizing of the Justice Department, Garland must be impeached, if he won’t resign.
