At an Egyptian-American event on Capitol Hill during the visit of Egyptian President el-Sisi, the Center for Security Policy warned of a common Islamist enemy.

“The government of Qatar is a state sponsor of a lot of different terrorist groups, including ISIS, including Al Qaeda, in the past as now,” Center for Security Policy Vice President J. Michael Waller told John Hines of One America News.

El-Sisi visited Washington to reinforce his government’s strong relationship with the United States.

“At the same time Qatar is spending a fortune here in Washington, buying influence among liberals, conservatives, you name it, to have the United States not be so friendly to Egypt and be more ‘balanced’ in its relations with Qatar and the whole region,” Waller said.

Qatar is a prime state sponsor of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist movement founded in Egypt more than 80 years ago. With enthusiastic support from the Center for Security Policy, President el-Sisi has been working to smash the Muslim Brotherhood.

The April 9 event at the Rayburn House Office Building was sponsored by American Pulse, an Egyptian-American communications group.
