Refusing to bring the impeachment inquiry up for an official vote in the House is depriving Republicans from the right to call witnesses, setting up President Donald Trump for a “travesty of justice,” according to Center for Security Policy CEO Fred Fleitz on Newsmax TV.

“This is a rigged process; there’s precedent on how to do this,” Fleitz told Tuesday’s “Newsmax Now.”

“There has to be a vote of the whole House to send this to the Judiciary committee, to give the president and give the Republicans subpoena power, the right to call witnesses.

“This is a very grave matter, and it’s being handled in an extremely partisan fashion. It gives the minority and the president’s defenders almost no ability to make their case.

“I think the Trump administration is actually right to resist what I think is a travesty of justice.”

Democrats are strategically blocking the president’s right to defend himself against the whistleblower’s partisan claims, and keeping from someone like Hunter Biden, embroiled in the Ukraine corruption claims, being called to testify, Fleitz told host John Bachman.

“They don’t want the Republicans to get their side out,” he said.

“Part of this the Democrats don’t want to talk about is why was Hunter Biden getting $50,000 a month from a shady Ukrainian gas company as father was vice president. The Democrats don’t want talk about that.”

Under the guise of protecting the whistleblower, Democrats are conducting a lopsided investigation so House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., can do “maximum damage” on the president before 2020, according to Fleitz.

“The Democrats are trying to indict a president using a secret witness the American people can’t hear from, and using a hearing where his appearance and voice will be obscured so the Republicans won’t know who this witness is,” he added. “Now this is something that would go on in communist China or the Soviet Union. It is not the American way; this is not the American system of government. We don’t have secret trials like this. We don’t know secret witnesses. This has to stop.”

The White House blocked the testimony of an ambassador and is “justified” in its defense by rejecting the inquiry, Fleitz said.

“They’re putting their foot down that they want a fair process,” he added. “They’re calling the Democrats out for not giving the minority the rights traditionally given to the minority during such a very serious process. And if the Democrats are gonna play these political games, other Republican shouldn’t cooperate.”

Fleitz estimated Pelosi does not want a constitutional impeachment as much as she wants a political argument against re-electing Trump.

“He’s also trying to send a message to Congress and American people: We’re wasting time here,” Fleitz said of the White House’s refusal to cooperate with the inquiry. “The business of American people is not getting done because Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff are wasting their time or this fraudulent impeachment effort.”
