Gen. Barr defends America against lawmakers who don’t

Democratic lawmakers yesterday treated Attorney General William Barr as a pinata, mostly using their question time to launch virulent attacks to which he was not allowed to respond. At one point, in frustration, the witness sardonically observed that he thought the point of holding the hearing was to hear from him.

The Democrats decried the Trump administration’s dispatch of so-called “troops” to cities wracked by revolutionary violence. When allowed to respond, Gen. Barr correctly described what’s happening as “assaults on the government of the United States,” rhetorically asking whether it’s now okay for arsonists to attack federal courthouses with commercial fireworks and kerosene balloons?

For Americans who revere our Constitution and respect the rule of law, the Attorney General came across as a competent and patriotic adult in a room full of petulant adolescents and radical-sympathizing leftist partisans.

Thank you, Bill Barr.
