Iran Selected to United Nations Disarmament Committee
Once again the UN has been shown to be a dysfunctional organization controlled by despots and outlaws.
Yesterday, the Islamic Republic of Iran, a nation that is enriching uranium in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions and the Non-Proliferation Treaty, was selected for a high-level position on a United Nations committee dealing with disarmament and international security issues.
The 193-member Disarmament and International Security Committee unanimously chose Iran for the position of rapporteur, a post responsible for reporting on the meetings of the committee.
Earlier this year, Iran was elected as the rotating chair of the UN Conference on Disarmament.
Meanwhile, Iran faces four rounds of UN sanctions over its nuclear program, sanctions hobbled by Chinese and Russian fecklessness.
Add to these absurdities the fact that Iran also boasts an active chemical weapons program and is widely considered the world’s most active sponsor of Jihadist terrorism, the only conclusion one can come to is that the United Nations is littered with irresponsible nations hostile to US security.
Repeatedly putting Iran on official bodies tasked with promoting disarmament is like appointing a serial killer to an anti-crime task force.
