‘No country’ will have confidence in US promises if Taiwan ‘goes under’

“No country in the world” is going to have too much confidence in US promises of support and security if Taiwan “goes under,” former US diplomat and Marine officer Grant Newsham says.
“You look at the upside risk of bringing Taiwan under Chinese domination, either by intimidation or outright attack, and look what you have done – you’ve broken the first island chain,” Mr Newsham told Sky News Australia.
“That’s the, literally the US, the free world’s defense line in the western Pacific.”
