For many years, the U.S. government has insisted that Sunni and Shiite Muslims hate each other so much that they could never cooperate – for example, in attacking us. Like so much of Washington’s policy towards Islamic supremacism, this conventional wisdom is wrong.

Actually, we’ve known that for some time. Four years ago, a federal judge ruled that Shiite Iran had been indispensably helpful to the Sunni al Qaeda jihadists who attacked us on 9/11. Regrettably, his verdict was largely ignored by our leaders.

In fact, they had obtained proof of that collaboration a year before, when Navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden and “liberated” his many incriminating documents.

President Obama’s failure to punish the Iranians for their complicity in killing Americans is bad enough. Worse, by knowing that, yet releasing over $100 billion in frozen assets, he has effectively rewarded them for doing so.
