Russian war games set to probe US air defenses in mock nuclear attack
Moscow is preparing a practice drill for a nuclear attack on the United States. The attack includes probing American air defenses with strategic nuclear bombers, Pentagon sources say.
Some at the Defense Department brush off the war games as “routine.”
Since the Soviet collapse, the Russian Federation has conducted frequent exercises envisioning an attack on the United States with air-launched cruise missiles, intercontinental ballistic missiles, and submarine-launched ballistic missiles.
The war games show that the Russian leadership still views the United States as the main enemy. They also call into question whether the US should continue to help subsidize the Russian central bank by being lenient on debt servicing and helping exploit hard currency-producing revenue.
