Save the Persecuted Church
For far too long, Christians in the Middle East and elsewhere have been subjected to repression, expulsion and genocide by merciless Sharia-supremacists. These victims are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine, serving as a warning of what the jihadists have in mind for all of us – if they can achieve, through violence or other means, our submission.
Last night, Vice President Mike Pence addressed an ecumenical gathering in Washington convened in defense of such Christians. He announced a much-needed course-correction from what was, at best, the Obama administration’s seeming indifference to the plight of the Persecuted Church, at worst, its enabling of the persecutors. He promised to stop sending U.S. aid via the United Nations and to the communities under assault.
In this way, the aid may actually reach and help its intended recipients. We expect, and must demand, no less.
