Special Counsel Witch Hunt
Representative Jody Hice (GA-10) joined Frank Gaffney on Secure Freedom Radio. Rep. Hice is a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations.
Rep. Hice explained his concerns about the investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Muller.
FRANK GAFFNEY:
Great! Well let’s talk about some of the things that you’ve been doing Congressman. You joined several of your colleagues in a piece at FOX News recently about the need to investigate the investigators, and this is a passion of mine. I really have been incredibly frustrated, as I gather that you have. The investigations have seemingly been very, very narrowly focused and are missing some of the really important things that need to be exposed as well. Could you talk a little bit about what you think those are?
REP. JODY HICE (GA-10):
You know, as soon as this Special Counsel was put in place I had some red flags going up. The relationship between Mueller and Comey were such that this smelled like a rat from the very beginning and sure enough it appears that that’s the direction it’s going. And this is a witch hunt, it’s all about trying to take down the President and to harm him, and I’m just fearful and have been from the very beginning that it would turn into this. So, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordon, and myself, we had and op-ed that recently went out, that you’re referring to, to address this and as you said, basically we’re saying it is time to investigate the investigators. This thing is going down the wrong path. They’re surrounding themselves with democrat activists, really, and you know the American people, we, deserve equality and justice under the law. This is shaping up to be anything but justice, and the cards are stacked, and that’s the intention of it. And we want to put an end to it.
FRANK GAFFNEY:
Especially, when you look, Congressman, at the genesis of this special council business. It was explicitly stated, under oath, by James Comey to the Senate Intelligence Committee that he had engineered this by these leaking of documents, some of which we’re told to be classified. But in any event, that it was his purpose to bring about a special council, and low and behold it turns out to be one of his best friends.
REP. JODY HICE (GA-10):
Right, he has a friend to leak FBI documents to the New York Times for the purpose of creating a special council, and then that special council happens to be Robert Mueller, who is a great friend of his. Now Mueller is surrounding himself with democratic activists and powerhouse attorneys all for the purpose for going after the President. And look, we tried, just for example, back in 2014, the House tried to get a special council when the IRS was targeting conservatives and conservative organizations, you, me, and many others will remember that, we sought to get a special council and we were denied by Comey and Holder from being able to do that. And yet here with under oath, people testifying there has been no collusion. The President did not try to coerce the anything, I mean the under-oath the evidence here, and yet out of the blue we have a special council. Right after Comey was fired by the President as the director of the FBI, that’s when all of this stuff is coming forward. So, it is an obvious distraction and attempt to take down the President was in fact taking place here.
