The Army’s new COIN manual

The Army’s new Counterinsurgency Field Manual FM 3-24, was published in December 2006 and is a thorough and insightful treatment of the subject. It focuses correctly on the importance on information operations as a tool to defeat guerrillas and insurgents.
The manual’s author, Lt. Gen. David H. Petraeus USA, will take up the command of U.S. forces in Iraq starting February 10th.
