In the 1930s, enemies of freedom forged what came to be known as “the Axis.” Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan and Fascist Italy joined forces – for a time, in league with the Communist Soviet Union – in a collaboration that ultimately plunged the planet into World War II.

A new – and no less menacing – axis took shape this week as the leaders of Russia and China announced their intention to cooperate with each other, and with Iran. The common denominator is their shared hostility towards us.

At a minimum, the new Axis will produce intensified exchanges of militarily relevant technologies, threatening joint exercises – like the Russo-Chinese ones currently underway in the Western Pacific – and energy-sharing that will power what seems certain to be aggression against the Free World in our time.
