Waller: What started out as military PSYOP technology is now being used against American public

Technology developed for US special operations forces in psychological operations against terrorists has been commercialized and deployed against the American public for political purposes.

The Center’s Senior Analyst for Strategy, Dr. J. Michael Waller, spoke of the technology with Scott Wheeler in a One America News aired September 23.

In the spring and summer of 2020, former military officers used the adapted technology “to enhance a disinformation narrative about Russian collusion,” Waller said, “using their military prestige to make their own disinformation to seem like it was anti-disinformation.”

The technology and techniques, which Waller first described in a Center for Security article a year ago, were employed “like a psychological warfare operation aimed at the American public by former military officers who had been involved in counterinsurgency to treat the American public as an insurgency.”

In the program, Waller names the former officers.

“The people who designed the [US military’s] counterinsurgency manual against al Qaeda and the Taliban were the ones who came out in 2020 to weaponize these types of technologies and techniques against people who supported President Trump,” Waller said.

The operatives had top cover from the highest-ranking elected Democrat at the time, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who branded her Republican colleagues and others as “enemies.”
