Yesterday, President Obama extended his self-imposed deadline for the negotiations with Iran. That was no surprise since the mullahs have been dragging their feet for weeks, in the process extracting more and more concessions from a U.S. administration desperate to get a deal.

It was surprising, though, that Mr. Obama’s announcement featured this declaration: “If we can’t provide assurances that the pathways for Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon are closed and…if the…verifications regime is inadequate, then we’re not going to get a deal.”

If the President means this pledge any more than his previous, broken commitments, he should stop the negotiations now. After all, they have already cleared “pathways” for Iran to get the bomb and established a wholly “inadequate” verification regime. Enough already.
