A message from Center President Fred Fleitz on the coronavirus national emergency

Life in the United States changed dramatically over the last week as the U.S. government and the American people took steps in response to the coronavirus crisis. It is crucial that you follow the recommendations of government health officials to limit the spread of this disease with hand washing, social distancing and staying home if you are sick.  Avoid unnecessary travel.

It is crucial that you follow the recommendations of government health officials to limit the spread of this disease with hand washing, social distancing and staying home if you are sick.  Avoid unnecessary travel.

The Center began a telework mode on Friday.  We will posting Zoom video conferences and interviews on our website to keep you informed on national security developments during this national crisis.

President Trump has taken crucial steps to stem the spread of coronavirus in the United States.  His decision to suspend flights from China into the United States made a huge difference in keeping us safe as did his decision to block non-U.S. citizens from Europe flying to the U.S.  Europe’s failure to bar flights from China probably led to the crippling surge in coronavirus cases in Italy and its rapid spread in other European countries.  Please pray for the people of Italy who are suffering from a grave health crisis.

The president’s Coronavirus Task Force led by Vice President Mike Pence has received high marks for its professionalism and for keeping Americans informed with daily press conferences with leading U.S. government health officials, especially Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. We will be posting the daily White House Coronavirus Task Force press conferences and other important videos about this issue on our website.

Naturally, not everything has gone smoothly and the administration has made some mistakes in handling this crisis.  But this is an unprecedented situation that our government was not prepared for. There is a lot of blame to go around for this that predates the Trump administration.  Its time for the mainstream media and Democratic politicians to stop using this crisis to score political points against President Trump. The task now is not to point fingers, but initiate bipartisan steps to adapt Federal, state and local governments to deal with this national emergency.
