China played matchmaker in Taiwan’s election
Taiwan’s KMT and TPP candidates have tried hard to distance themselves from the Chinese Communist Party in mainland China because of how unpopular it is in Taiwan. But it’s been hard to ignore their connections, or how their political decisions keep lining up with what the CCP wants. In this episode of China Unscripted, we discuss how China played matchmaker in the 2024 presidential election, as well as other features of this election. Joining us in this episode is Colonel Grant Newsham, a former Marine intelligence officer who has lived in Taiwan as part of a Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs fellowship. He’s also the author of the book “When China Attacks: A Warning to America.”
