The American election fraud crisis and the expectation of a Biden Administration have prompted the Iranian regime to become more menacing.

All of a sudden, Iran is threatening the life of President Donald Trump and talking of provoking war with the US to pressure Biden to lift sanctions.

Meanwhile, progressives are pushing Biden to name a reputed agent of the Iranian regime to the White House National Security Council.

Big change of tone from Tehran since election crisis began

Iran’s president hinted to his cabinet that President Trump will be assassinated soon, and said he looks forward to better relations with the Biden team.

At the same time, an unofficial mouthpiece for the regime raised the possibility that Iran will provoke a war with the United States in order to force the Biden administration to lift sanctions in exchange for a ceasefire.

The Iranian regime has been uncharacteristically restrained since President Trump ordered a lethal missile strike on a top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps general in retaliation for attacks on American targets in January, 2020.

A year later, with the US government in a constitutional crisis over massive electoral fraud and with the prospect of a friendlier or weaker Biden-Harris administration, the mullahs are becoming more aggressive.

Preparing for the first anniversary of Trump’s elimination of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the longtime commander of the IRGC’s terrorist Qods Force, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hinted to his cabinet that the President of the United States would die soon.

Rouhani: ‘In a few days, the life of [Trump] will end’

“One of the effects of this stupid and disgraceful act [of assassinating Soleimani] was that Trumpism ended and in a few days, the life of this criminal will end and he will go to the dustbin of history, and we are very happy about this and we believe that the period after Trump will be a better condition for regional and global stability,” Rouhani said in a December 30 cabinet meeting.

Rouhani’s comments were published in English on the official Iranian presidential website.

Unofficial regime mouthpiece: Iran has ‘golden opportunity’ to start war with US

The same day, regime “political analyst” and unofficial regime voice Emad Abshenas said in a December 30 interview that “some people” think Iran should start a war with the United States as a bargaining chip to force Washington to lift sanctions in exchange for a ceasefire (see photo).

“Iran now has a golden opportunity to enter into a confrontation with the US,” Abshenas said, repeating the “some people” theme as if speaking as a cutout for the regime. The Abshenas video was translated by MEMRI.

“Trump’s policies have brought us to the point of no return: Either there is a war, or everything is over. Some people are waiting for Biden to end these disagreements, whereas others believe that this will not be over even with the arrival of Biden, and that (Iran) should start a war with the US and harm the Americans in order to enter into negotiations and stop the war in exchange for lifting the sanctions and ending the (anti-Iran) American actions,” Abshenas said.

Biden criticized Trump’s hit against Soleimani

Biden criticized Trump’s strike on Soleimani as dangerous, while acknowledging, “No American will mourn Qassem Soleimani’s passing. He deserved to be brought to justice for his crimes against American troops and thousands of innocents throughout the region,” Biden said after the precision strike on Soleimani.

“He supported terror and sowed chaos. None of that negates the fact that this is a hugely escalatory move in an already dangerous region. The Adminitration’s statement says that its goal is to deter future attacks by Iran, but this action almost certainly will have the opposite effect. President Trump just tossed a stick of dynamite into a tinderbox,” Biden said at the time.

Biden was wrong – Iran launched no significant attacks in the year since Trump’s decisive and shocking action.

Now, however, amid the polarization in the US over electoral fraud and anticipating an incoming Biden administration, the Iranian regime sees a weakened United States as an opportunity to make its move.
