FBI does not deny that it had assets in place among J6 conspirators and rioters

In a dramatic Senate hearing, the FBI would not deny that it had agents or assets in place among January 6 violence conspirators and organizers.

When asked repeated “yes or no” questions before the Senate Judiciary Committee today, a top FBI official would not say “no” to FBI involvement.

Senator Ted Cruz grilled FBI Executive Assistant Director Jill Sanborn at the hearing on domestic terrorism. Sanborn has a reputation as a national security professional, not known for politicization or scandal.

Cruz: “How many FBI agents or confidential informants actively participated in the events of January 6?”

Sanborn: “Sir, I’m sure you can appreciate that I can’t go into the specifics of sources and methods.”

Cruz: “Did any FBI agents or confidential informants actively participate in the events of January 6, yes or no?”

Sanborn: “Sir, I can’t answer that.”

Cruz: “Did any FBI agents or confidential informants commit crimes of violence on January 6?”

Sanborn: “I can’t answer that.”

Cruz: “Did any FBI agents or FBI informants actively encourage and incite crimes of violence on January 6?”

Sanborn: “Sir, I can’t answer that.”
