Iran is Already ‘Snapping’ the Sanctions Regime

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Are you one of that diminishing number of people who still believe President Obama’s promises about his nuclear deal with Iran?

Perhaps you are clinging to one of the most disingenuous of those assurances: namely, that – even if the deal isn’t fully satisfactory, or there’s reason to fear the mullahs will cheat – any lifting of economic sanctions on Iran will occur over time, and they’ll “snap back” if the Iranians misbehave.

Think again. As the Washington Times reported yesterday, several U.S. allies have begun courting business opportunities in Iran – even before the ink is dry on any new agreement.

In short, the sanctions regime is already fraying. And as foreign businesses snap up lucrative deals with Iran, their governments simply won’t allow any effective sanctions to be reimposed.
