Why are the Mullahs laughing?

They are laughing because they know this deal gives them everything they want.

President Obama announced a framework for a deal with Iran over its nuclear program last month. Not long after his press conference, the Iranians announced they didn’t agree to most of what the President was bragging about. It was almost as if the two sides were talking about completely different things.

Obama: “This framework would cut off every pathway that Iran could take to develop a nuclear weapon.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif didn’t quite see it that way.

“None of those measures include closing any of our facilities. The proud people of Iran would never accept that,” he said.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khameini took to Twitter to pour cold water on Obama’s celebration.

But of course there will be rigorous inspections to ensure Iran complies, right?

“If Iran cheats,” Obama said, “the world will know it.”

Khameini says not so fast there.

Iran is already cheating on restrictions about its nuclear program, so it’s not really clear what inspections would do if they were allowed.

“ Britain has informed a United Nations sanctions panel of an active Iranian nuclear procurement network linked to two blacklisted firms”

Crippling sanctions were the only reason Iran was even at the negotiating table and at least both sides can agree those have to go.

“Zarif said that once a final agreement is made, “all U.S. nuclear related secondary sanctions will be terminated,”

According to the Wall Street Journal “Obama suggested on Friday Iran could receive significant economic relief immediately after concluding a deal.”

The Iranians know they took Obama to the cleaners, and they are telling everyone who will listen. Now America and the world need the US Senate to do its Constitutional duty as a check and balance and kill this deadly deal.
