Center for Security Policy Launches New Podcast “Not Cleared”

Brings National Security Discussion to Young and New Audiences

WASHINGTON – The Center for Security Policy today unveiled the first five episodes of its new podcast, “Not Cleared,” which will introduce young and newly interested audiences to national security topics without all the jargon that tends to come with it.

“People in national security tend to speak in terms and jargon that are intended to show to other people they are ‘in the know,’” said Fred Fleitz, President and CEO of the Center for Security Policy. “It can help speed conversation for those who understand, but be quite inaccessible for people who are interested, but who don’t do this for a living. The Center’s new podcast will cover national security and foreign policy topics with plain talk so everyone can be part of the conversation.”

“Not Cleared” will be hosted by Morgan Wirthlin, a Russian policy analyst and chief of staff for the Center. She is joined by cohost Matt Franklin, who directs the Center’s online digital and media productions. Other Center analysts and special guests will provide clear, easy-to-understand breakdowns of major international and national security related news and events.

“There is a new generation of people coming up who did not grow-up during the Cold War and who are too young to remember 9/11 in a meaningful way,” Wirthlin said. “They need a way to learn about these seminal events in American national security history while having a means to talk about the current national security events that are shaping our times.”

“Technology has made information more accessible and provided a means for young people to discover new things,” added Franklin. “This podcast will help provide vital information and conversation for America’s next generation of national security leaders.”

The first episode of the podcast focuses on counterterrorism. Not Cleared is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Stitcher, and many more platforms.
