Senator Cruz Vindicated on Iran’s Nuclear “Selfie”
As predicted by critics of the ObamaBomb nuclear deal with Iran, Iranians collected nuclear samples for the IAEA last weekend as part of an investigation of Iran’s past nuclear weapons-related activities. A brilliant Wall Street Journal editorial referred to this today as “Iran’s Nuclear Selfies.”
Several Republican presidential candidates have expressed their outrage about this arrangement which raised questions about the seriousness of Un verification of the Iran deal. Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham, Scott Walker, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz all spoke out against Iran inspecting itself during the last Republican presidential debate.
But as far as I know, only Senator Cruz was accused by the press of making a false statement about this issue when “PolitiFact Texas” writer Gardner Selby said in a September 18 column that Cruz’s statement on the Iran deal “trusts the Iranians to inspect themselves” was false.
Selby called me about this article. We also exchanged several emails. He ignored what I told him and relied on misleading and false claims by liberal arms control experts. It was clear to me that this would be a hit piece on Senator Cruz and Selby had determined his bottom line that Cruz’s statement about the Iran deal was false before he began writing his article.
We now know Senator Cruz and the rest of the GOP candidates were right about Iran inspecting itself. So will Selby be issuing a correction of his hit piece on Senator Cruz?
