Level 1

  1. Provide regular training opportunities for residents to be trained in Fire Safety and Use of Fire Extinguishers.
  2. Require firefighters and EMTs to have a Family Care Plan in place so they can go to work during a major emergency.

Level 2

  1. Develop auxiliary fire programs such as Fire Corps or a Firefighter Reserve

  3. Build up a Transportation Fuel Reserve Supply that can be used to refuel fire apparatus and ambulances. Fuel Storage Considerations Document
  4. Develop auxiliary EMS programs such as Medical Reserve Corps.

Level 3

  1. Organize teams of Neighborhood Fire Wardens.
